Kyle James Grimes

  • PhD Student - Archaeology

Kyle is interested in how early Andean states extended control into distant regions via enclaves and outposts. His research examines cross-cultural interaction and ancient imperialism through methods of landscape archaeology, settlement pattern studies, and architectural analysis. Along with participating in archaeological fieldwork in southern Peru, Kyle has worked on multiple cultural resource management projects across the western United States. He earned his B.A. in Anthropology from UC San Diego in 2025.
