Stanley Osinachi Nwosu

Stanley is a PhD Candidate whose research interests includes trade, transatlantic entanglement, global networks, historical archaeology of West Africa, household archaeology, cultural resource management, museum studies and heritage. Stanley’s current research seeks to investigate the dynamics and networks of power and trade in west africa’s hinterland by investigating household wealth and status in Arochukwu, south eastern Nigeria during and after the Transatlantic Era.

Experience
Stanley’s first field experience started in 2012 and this marked the beginning of his journey in archaeological research. Over the course of his undergraduate and graduate studies, he participated in several Archaeological Projects in different locations in Nigeria. Since 2017, he has participated in and taken up key roles in major archaeological projects including the Old Oyo Archaeological Project and the Ife-Sungbo Archaeological Project where he is currently the excavation supervisor and records lead. He was employed as a Field Archaeologist for the Edo Museum of West Africa Art (EMOWAA) Archaeological Project Phase 1 (2021) which involved collaborations from the British Museum, Cambridge Archaeology Unit and Wessex Museum UK. He has also worked as a Contract Archaeologist carrying out excavations for PhD researchers in US and European universities who had their research areas in Nigeria.
