Mary Claudia Avila Peltroche

Mary Avila Peltroche is a Peruvian archaeologist and zooarchaeologist whose research examines the role of animals, particularly camelids, in mobility, exchange, and political economy in Andean societies. She holds a BA in Archaeology from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and has participated in multiple national and international research projects in Peru, including Chavín de Huántar, Ingatambo, and Callacpuma. Her work integrates zooarchaeological analysis with isotopic and biomolecular approaches to investigate interregional interaction, landscape use, and the development of social complexity in the ancient Andes.
